About WPShift: WordPress server management software
WPShift is software that sets up a WordPress server in your own cloud account and manages the sites, domains, mailboxes, backups and monitoring on it. It is a control plane and not a host: the server is created in your account at DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Linode, AWS, Google Cloud or Vultr.

The product
Servers at several providers, in one list
You connect the cloud account and choose the server. WPShift installs Nginx, PHP, MariaDB and Redis, applies the firewall and access settings, and gives you a dashboard for what comes after: sites, caching, backups, certificates, domains and mailboxes.

Why the server stays in your account
You should be able to choose where your sites run and see what the infrastructure costs.
With your own cloud account connected, your provider invoices the server directly and WPShift adds nothing to that bill. If you stop using WPShift, the server stays in your account and keeps running. DNS, mailboxes, backups and monitoring stop with the subscription.
The work
What the product is, and what it leaves alone
WPShift manages servers and the WordPress sites on them. It is not a CDN, a page builder or an analytics platform.
Most of our time goes into three things: that a failed operation names the step and shows what the server reported, that a backup nobody has tested yet still restores, and that the boundaries between the sites on one server are real.
